Abstract

Obstructive airways disease impair physical performance and sports performance and working horses. Until recently, among the scientists in this disease, with the exception of emphysema, it does not have enough attention.

To simplify the terminology proposed several disease definitions used to describe the non-inflammatory and inflammatory processes in the airways horses. Title chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which was first introduced to describe the disease in horses, currently not used. According to the literature in horses chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD is different from the person that is associated with tobacco addiction. At the same time, obstructive airway disease in horses mechanism is more similar to the development of asthma in humans.

The main etiological factor of the disease in horses is getting into the airway allergens that are in the hay and bedding. The leading role played in the pathogenesis of allergic reaction to specific antigens.

All the above gives grounds for a deeper study of this disease in horses that in the future will improve their well-being.
