Orysya Tsisaryk was born onMarch 18, 1958inChita(Russia) in the family of the former political prisoners. In 1975 she completed with gold medal Secondary School in the town ofKhodoriv, Lviv region, and entered Lviv Zoo-Veterinary Institute, from which she graduated with honors in 1981, having obtained the qualification of physician of veterinary medicine.

She started her professional career at the Ukrainian Research Institute of Physiology and Biochemistry of Food-Producing Animals: in 1982 she was a senior laboratory assistant, in 1984 she worked as a veterinarian, in 1987 she was a junior research fellow, and in 1991 she became a senior research fellow of the laboratory of Physiology of Lactation. In 1995 she was transferred to the position of assistant lecturer of the Department of Milk and Dairy Products Engineering at Lviv Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and in 2000 she was promoted to Associate Professor. In 2007-2009 she has been taking doctoral studies, her scientific advisor was Dronyk H.V., Academician, Doctor of Biology. Since 2010 she has been heading the Department of Milk and Dairy Products Engineering.

She supervises postgraduate students, the research area is biochemistry of milk, in particular modeling of the composition of milk in order to enhance its biological value and generation of dairy products with health-improving properties.

She is a member of academic council of the University, two specialized academic councils, member of the editorial board of the "Dairy Industry" magazine.

Prof. Orysya Tsisaryk started her research work from the study of milk production processes, milk composition and the factors impacting it, at the Ukrainian Research Institute of Physiology and Biochemistry of Food-Producing Animals (now theInstituteofAnimal Biology, National Academy of Sciences ofUkraine).

She performed her Ph.D. thesis "Nitrogen compounds of milk and milk flow in Simmental breed cows and their crossbreeds with Holstein-Friesian in the foothills of the Carpathians" under the supervision of I.A. Dubynka, Ph.D. Biology, and P.Z. Lagodyuk, Academician, and defended it in 1990, obtaining Ph.D. Biology degree in the field of Human and Animal Physiology. This paper is devoted to the influence of the inflow of blood ofHolsteinbreed on the functional activity, morphological features of mammary gland of cows and composition of milk, on the basis of which the expediency of such crossing is substantiated.

In 2010 she defended her habilitation thesis "Metabolism and biochemical composition of milk in cows in case of rapeseed feeding" and was awarded the academic degree of the Doctor of Agriculture in the field of biochemistry. The task of her thesis was to investigate the possibility of modifying the composition of fatty acids of milk lipids and to find out the conditions for such modification in order to enhance the biological value of milk fat during the action of lipid complex of rapeseed, added to the diet of cows. The optimum form and quantity of rapeseeds in diet are substantiated. It was established that the addition of rapeseeds to the diet of highly productive cows favorably affects metabolism, hematological parameters, non-specific resistance and antioxidant status of the organism.
